Landing at Split Airport: what happens after you get off the plane

A walk-through of the terminal from the jet bridge to the exit doors — passport control, baggage, cash, wifi and where every ride option actually waits.

Gate to kerb

One terminal, one route through it.

Split Airport (SPU) has a single passenger terminal, so there's no cross-terminal walk between your gate and the exit. If you're arriving from outside the Schengen area you'll clear passport control first — flights from other Schengen countries skip this step, since Croatia joined Schengen in 2023 — then collect your bags in the one baggage hall, and step out through a single set of arrivals doors into the public terminal.

Passport control

The one queue that can actually run long.

Non-Schengen arrivals — flights from the UK, US, Canada and most long-haul routes — go through passport control on the way to baggage claim. On a summer Saturday, when several charter flights land within the same hour for the weekly villa changeover, this is the queue that stretches. Arrivals from other Schengen countries walk straight past it.

Baggage hall

One hall, one set of carousels.

All arriving flights share the same baggage hall, directly past passport control. It's compact by design — a small regional airport rather than a maze — so even on a full charter afternoon you're rarely more than a short walk from the exit once your bag lands on the belt.

Cash & connectivity

Sort both before you're through the doors.

Cash

ATMs sit just past the arrivals doors on the right. The Planet ATM (PBZ) doesn't charge a withdrawal fee — others nearby typically add one, so it's worth a second's glance at the machine before you tap in your PIN.

SIM & wifi

Wifi covers the terminal if you need to check a message before you move. For a Croatian SIM or eSIM, buying an eSIM before you fly is the simplest option — kiosk availability in arrivals varies by season.

Where every ride option waits

Four spots, one exit.

Taxi rank

Marked and staffed, directly outside the arrivals doors. Metered, so check the tariff card before you get in.

Shuttle bus stop

Alongside the taxi rank, outside arrivals. Runs to Split's main bus station on a fixed schedule.

Uber & Bolt

Neither waits at the doors — both send you to a pickup point on the main road outside the terminal complex, shown only once you've booked.

Pre-booked drivers

A driver arranged in advance waits inside arrivals itself, holding a sign with your name.

Questions, answered

Arrivals at SPU, straight answers.

Does Split Airport have one terminal or several?

One passenger terminal handles all arrivals and departures, so there's no inter-terminal transfer to worry about.

Do I need to go through passport control at Split Airport?

Only if you're arriving from outside the Schengen area. Since Croatia joined Schengen in 2023, flights from other Schengen countries go straight to baggage claim.

Where can I withdraw cash without a fee at Split Airport?

The Planet ATM (operated by PBZ), just past the arrivals doors on the right, doesn't charge a withdrawal fee. Other machines nearby typically do.

Is there wifi at Split Airport?

Yes, it covers the terminal, including the arrivals hall.

Where do pre-booked drivers wait?

Inside arrivals itself, holding a name sign — the one meeting point that isn't outside the terminal complex.

The Plejo Promise

Seven things we promise on every transfer.

  • We meet you inside arrivals — with your name on a sign, not on a road outside the terminal.
  • We track your flight — land late and we're still there.
  • 30 minutes of free waiting, included, timed from when you actually land.
  • A fixed price on WhatsApp within 10 minutes (08:00–20:00 CET, every day). Once agreed it doesn't move — tolls, luggage and fees included, no summer surge.
  • You'll know your driver — name, photo, vehicle and plate, sent the day before.
  • Card or cash, both accepted in the vehicle.
  • Free cancellation up to 12 hours before pickup.
